Maggie’s Xmas Donation
It was a pleasure to welcome Laura from Maggie’s Centres to the office this morning to receive a cheque from all the Trans-Bridge Freight Services Ltd team that they raised in place of sending Christmas Cards.
It was really humbling to sit with Laura having a cuppa and a TFS Cake and listen to the amazing work they carry out at their Cancer Support centre in Oldham and indeed across the Country.
Please take the time to visit their website where you will learn why their founder, Maggie, from her own experiences of being diagnosed with Terminal Cancer, decided that a world of support was needed beyond the hospital environment, once that terrible news has been delivered by a medical professional.
Handing over the cheque is our very own Peter Johnson who unfortunately had to call on the support of the team at Maggies Oldham a few years ago, when his wife was diagnosed with a terminal cancer condition. Sadly Elke lost her battle and it was emotional to listen to Pete this morning, talk so candidly about how Maggies helped them as a family before, during and after the loss of Elke. Peter does an amazing job raising his two young children alongside a full time job here.
Hopefully we can shine a spot light on this organisation that rely wholly upon charitable funding to deliver the amazing support, to people affected directly and indirectly by Cancer, to allow them to continue to do their amazing work.
